Belize
As some of you may know, for the past week, I've been in Belize for Christmas break. So, Here's a report on how awesome it really is.
Belize=Greatest country south of the border.
Lessee here... I arrived on thursday, just in time for dinner at the resort I'm staying at, ((the Soulshine resort and spa)) and then we went to sleep 'cause we'd been up since 3:00 in the 8:00 the previous day. ((we left @ 3:00 in the morning, so there was no time for sleep.))
On friday, we went on a boat ((most things are done by boat around here.)) tour of Monkey River. It was soo cool. Awesome pictures were taken, and will be posted on Jaq's photography as soon as I get home. ((thursday)) I SAW MONKEYS!!!!! MONKEYS ARE FUNNY!! AND COOl!!!
Now, on Saturday, Christmas, I toured some AWESOME mayan ruins. We took a water taxi to the village of Mongo Creek, and from there it was a three hour drive to the southeren border of belize/nothern border of guatemala. The site was called Xunantunich ((Shu-Nan-too-nitch)). I had some fucking crazy-ass pictures too, but my mom deleated them in a freak USB accident. Don't ask me how she did it, I still don't know. Our guide was this really cool mayan woman named Rosario. She actually belived in the mayan religion. Plus, her father was a mayan priest. He had mayan magic too! Like, she told us this one story about when she was a young girl, her father would get her and her sister togather and would whisper a word to one of them. Then She would whisper it back to him. After that, the two who heard the word would pick up the third one by touching her under one ear, and then the other would touch her under the other ear. They could then pick her up and carry her for miles, as if she weighted nothing. But if one of them laughed, the secret was lost, and they would all fall to the ground.
Sunday..... sunday was boxing day, so nothing was open. ((Belize was formerly a british colony, so they still celebrate boxing day.)) We just kinda explored the bounds of the resort. There were some cool fish and stuff.
Monday was.................... snorkling. Snorkling is awesome. We took a boat ((see a trend here?)) to a reef off of Laughing Bird caye. Oh, and we rented some gear from a shop in plecencia, which is right across teh canal from where we were staying. So, once we got to the caye, we got in the water, and started snorkling. There were awesome fish and we didn't see any sharks in the water, but we spotted some fins on the other side of the island.
Tuesday, we went to Cockscomb Jaguar preserve. It was really cool. We took ((another)) boat to Mango river and there we were picked up by our guide, another mayan named Julian. He also was really awesome. His father lived in the jungle and raised Julian and his bothers to learn not to live there. They all ended up moving into the jungle where thier father lived. But about 20 years ago, the government forced them to move out and didn't even give them a choice. They just had to move, and beyond that they were out of the jungle, the govt. didn't care where they went. ((sound familiar?)) So he was really cool and really knoledegable about the jungle and the animals and tracks and such awesome stuff. We hiked about 10 miles that day and by the end, I was fuckin' TIRED!! Once again, really awesome pictures were tooken, and they too will be posted on Jaq's Pictures ((my other blog))
Right now, I'm writing this from Belize on a computer in an internet cafe in Plecencia. Its a really cool town. Plecencia is really strange in many ways, one of which is that it dosn't really have many roads, but the entire town has high-speed internet. Weird huh? Anyways, I'm goin' now. Gonna go find my family, all of whom have left to ezplore the town and its awesome shops further. Byes! ^^ *runs off and gets lost in the coolness*
